Santarem 11/27/17

Aloha Família!

Been a pretty good week. Miguel and Tánia are still doing well, and their son David actually participated in the primary presentation! Pedro and Carina, we were able to teach a few times this week and they are solid! They've been reading the Book of Mormon. We took all their coffee from their house, and they were supposed to come to church, but something came up; super sad, but maybe this week. We've taught a lot of Romanians, and I've started to walk around with a 1st lesson pamphlet in Romanian. We just offer to say a prayer, using the Romanian word for prayer, and they let us in!

We went to Carregado today, and I got me a suit and some ties, but sadly I'll have to hem up the suit pants myself! I don't know why they didn't do it for me, but hey no better time to learn I guess, haha.

Família, vos amo! Keep up the great work! Let us all keep in mind that trials are for our good, and that it is at that time that we should keep going instead of stopping! Its hard, but I know that as we pray with all the energy of heart for help from God, we will be strengthened, and God will help us overcome! Have a great week!

Santarem 11/20/17

Rio Tejo, or the Tagus River, near Santarem
Aloha Família!

I was gonna make a weekly video, but it doesn't look like it's going to work out.

This week has gone well! We've been teaching a lot, and we've found some cool people! A reference from Elder Dias came to church this week! Sadly, Pedro and Carina and Miguel and Tánia didn't come. We don't know what's going on, so were a little worried, but we'll figure it out. We taught some more Indians this week and they want to feed us roti!

I really liked a scripture shared in the Zone Conference, 1 John 5:4. All of those who are born of God will overcome, by their faith, that's like a condensed version. I know that according to our faith mountains are moved! I know that faith is a principle of action, and that as we act God will augment our efforts, and open doors we never knew existed.

Family, I love you guys! Have a great week and keep up the great work! Read the scriptures, say your prayers, go to church, and do your best to always be an example of the principles we profess! Tende uma boa semana! (Have a good week!)

com amor,
Élder Kim

Santarem 11/13/17

Miguel, Tania, and the kids
Aloha Família!

This week was really good! Miguel and Tánia came to church! Pedro and Carina want to get baptized! We taught a Romanian couple using a JW Romanian bible and a Romanian Book of Mormon and was awesome! We found some cool students and some other families, so that was really nice! Also, Elder Maloy got safely to Madeira, so shout out to him!

My new comp is Elder Cardenuto and he's great! He's from São Paulo, speaks pretty good English and is always smiling! We've been working hard and it has been great! He even knows how to cut hair! He cut mine this morning!

I just want to say that I know that God lives! I know that He loves us! I know that this work is  bigger than us, and it really is to bless other people's lives! I know that we are purified and happier as we practice faith in Jesus Christ, and that He has the power to make our weaknesses strengths! He IS a God of miracles!

Love you, fam! Mom, Happy early B-day! Have a great week!

com amor, de Sião,
Élder Kim
